On October 15th and 16th, we invite you to the launch of TOURiLab FIWARE iHub, an important event we will hold in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands).

During these two days, you will enjoy talks, roundtables, hands-on sessions, and networking, accompanied by key players in the international tourism and technology sectors.

The event, free and with limited seating, will be divided into two professional sessions: the first will be a private session, aimed at internationally renowned technology experts, top executives, and institutional representatives; and the second will be a public session featuring practical talks and discussion panels aimed at companies, freelancers, and future professionals in the sector. Meanwhile, we will host a competition* to encourage students and emerging talent from Fuerteventura.

A space reserved for the media, where the TOURiLab FIWARE iHub will be officially presented, the world’s first tourism innovation lab certified by European technologies. In this press conference, figures such as Manuel Miranda, representing the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Javier Franco, Director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation, and Information Society (ACIISI), Lola García, President of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Carmen Alonso, New Technologies Counselor of the Fuerteventura Island Council, and Marlene Figueroa, Tourism Counselor of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Eduardo Pereira, Manager of the Fuerteventura Technology Park, and Mannix Manglani, Director of MNX Online and promoter of the TOURiLab initiative, will share their insights on the impact of this project for the digital and sustainable transformation of tourism.

Participants and speakers will be greeted with a welcome coffee, providing an opportunity for networking and to start the day in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The main local and regional authorities will officially welcome the event. Among them, Lola García, president of the Fuerteventura Island Council, and Javier Franco, director of ACIISI, will be joined by Eduardo Pereira, manager of the Fuerteventura Technology Park, to highlight the importance of the TOURiLab FIWARE iHub for technological innovation in Fuerteventura and its international projection.

In this keynote, Paqui Rubio, Vice President of GAIA-X Spain, and Ángeles Tejado, Senior Program Manager at FIWARE Foundation, will discuss the key role of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) and data spaces in the European digitalization strategy. They will explain how these elements interconnect digital ecosystems, drive innovation, and enable the creation of smart and sustainable tourist destinations, highlighting the importance of interoperability and digital sovereignty in tourism data management.

This roundtable will feature institutional representatives such as Marlene Figueroa, Tourism Councillor of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Carmen Alonso, Technology Councillor of the Fuerteventura Island Council, and Eduardo Pereira, Manager of the Fuerteventura Technology Park.

They will be joined by experts such as Juanjo Hierro, Chairman of the FIWARE Technical Steering Committee, Ulises Gamero, representative of FIWARE Space, the world’s only three-star FIWARE iHub, and Ruperto Santana, Vice President of the Canary Islands Excellence Technological Cluster, who will share insights on digitalization and technological advancements in the Canary Islands.

Each participant will provide their perspective on the impact of TOURiLab FIWARE iHub as a driving force for technological innovation, smart tourism, and sustainability, both locally and internationally.

This event will feature the participation of the main entities and institutions supporting TOURiLab.

The counselors from the Fuerteventura Island Council, Carmen Alonso, responsible for New Technologies, and Marlene Figueroa, responsible for Tourism, along with the TOURiLab promoters, will deliver closing remarks, officially inaugurating our FIWARE iHUB.
Afterwards, a coffee break will be offered, providing a final networking opportunity for the guests.

This guided tour, led by Eduardo Pereira, manager of the Fuerteventura Technology Park, will allow participants to explore the cutting-edge technological facilities on the island, such as the Canarias Stratoport for HAPS, the ISSEC Multipurpose Building, and the Fuerteventura Smart Island Data Processing Center.

The day will begin with a general presentation of the event, highlighting the main activities and objectives of the day. MNX Online, as the promoter of TOURiLab FIWARE iHUB, will be responsible for welcoming attendees, companies, and local and international professionals.

In this section, the key technological projects transforming Fuerteventura into an innovation hub will be presented:

  • 10:30h. Presentation by the Canarias Technological Excellence Cluster (CET)

    Description: The Canarias Technological Excellence Cluster will present its initiatives in the technology sector, highlighting the positive impact on the growth of the ICT sector and improving the competitiveness of regional companies.

The TOURiLab Technology Challenge will be officially launched, a technology competition focused on innovative solutions to key challenges such as sustainable mobility, renewable energy, and water management. TOURiLab, together with FIWARE Space, will offer participants the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a collaborative and innovative environment.

A moment to relax and network among attendees, speakers, and participating tech companies.

This demo show is aimed at general participants, local businesses, and public administration. During this track, technological projects carried out by Canarian companies that contribute to improving citizens’ quality of life and have the potential to transform cities into Smart Cities will be showcased.

We will have the participation of companies specializing in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, sustainability, additive manufacturing, or drones, among others.

During the TOURiLab Technology Challenge, students from Badajoz and Fuerteventura will form various teams to find innovative solutions to current challenges faced by the regions, in areas such as sustainable mobility, renewable energy, water management, waste management, and more.

The teams participating in the TOURiLab Technology Challenge will present their innovative solutions to a panel of judges and the audience. This is a key moment where young talents will showcase the innovative outcomes of their work and creativity.

During this ceremony, the best idea presented at the TOURiLab Technology Challenge will be awarded, based on creativity, feasibility, and its positive impact on society.

The day will conclude with a few words of thanks and the formal closure of the event, marking the end of two days dedicated to technological innovation and sustainable development in Fuerteventura, officially inaugurating TOURiLab, the world’s first tourism innovation lab certified in European technology.
